Hello I have an KM CRV 2002 it has had a honda software update around 2013, the original cluster in there is pretty beat up. I aquired a cluster from a 2004 as it is a much nicer dash in my opinion, and it is the same size and mountings and connectors- except the plugs are 180degres turned around.
when it plugged in nothing shows up, the left or right indicator on lights both indicators up like hazzards.
Is there any extra wiring added from ECU to cluster in the upgrade?or something different on the muliplex module? or what do I have to do for it to work?- or will a trip and pineapple from the honda dealer do it?
Thanks
Dan 2002 2002 2004 2004
For what it's worth, the USDM gauges (green and blue plug) have the same electrical pin-out between 02-04 models.
Are you absolutely sure that's from the same generation of Honda CRV? If you give it power and it only gives you hazards: that sounds like the default behavior of a CAN-Bus circuit/module. I don't think ours in the states have that. I could be wrong though i'm not a tech for them.
Thanks Smackin, yes the RD7 same Gen2 , the Gen3 the jap 04 facelift models mostly minor changes in between them, cluster, white indicators, cruiser control, 16"wheels bigger rotors etc,
so by that, do you think the ECU has to be replaced with a 04-06 and remarried at honda?
Thanks for you inputs
Dan
What Market are you living at like what country? That one cluster you have the simple one with the temperature gauge in the fuel gauge at opposite ends are similar to the ones that we have here on all C RVs in North America but the other one looks like a cluster out of a European or United Kingdom CRV. I've seen those used in diesel C RVs in Europe in the United Kingdom. The 05 and 06 CRV have side airbags and vehicle stability assist so the cluster is different because it has circuits for those functions within it. I know that the cluster will work generally speaking however you'll trip the airbag light in the cluster because of the differences in the supplemental restraint systems.. also on that nicer-looking cluster a lot of those also had functions for a trip computer built into them I don't know if that one does but none of that will function properly I'm pretty sure if the vehicle wasn't set up for it to begin with.
Both are Japanese versions, the 04 one would have trip computer added in but I accept that it probably wont work properly, I dont think the VSA came in here in AUS to the 4th gen made in thailand or late 05/06 japan , 06 was the last japanese version made the rest we got were Thai
Can delete the SRS bulb if that is the main annoyance
The lcd display was just basic in 04 ODO TRIP ECON/DTE Current mileage, only need distance working there, and very basic in the 02 ODO&Distance
These are pinouts for USDM CR-V's. The only difference I see is VSA and some automatic trans circuits. Since you have a 5 speed trans, those probably don't apply. Is it possible you bought a bum cluster? Or is there something else I'm overlooking? I wouldn't think you'd need to swap to a 2005-2006 ECU. That would require some much bigger changes anyways, (electronic throttle for one thing) definitely not worth it.

Ahh that maybe this issue, I have the auto dash.. I was just going to take out the selector lights, have you got a picture of the auto trans circuit and where the VSA circuit is? maybe I can disconnect the auto trans part in/or on the blue pins 2-5, the green has no wires to the 13-16 plug ,maybe disconnect pin20 green -side airbags too ? which is the vsa pin though pin20 blue ?
Thanks very much smackin

The VSA and SRS pins are labeled in the diagram above. The auto trans circuits I mentioned previously... It appears that pins 14-16 on the green connector are for Drive gear selections. Blue connector pins 2-5 are for park, neutral, reverse. I don't think you need to make any adjustments there. However, I believe that it's possible that pin 13 on the green connector might actually power the instrument cluster CPU. At least in the automatic cluster. I would test that theory by hitting only the essential pins with power and ground outside of your car, and not connected to your car's wiring harness.
Hello,
I have exactly the same issue here. Only difference is that mine is AT.
I just got a 2006 cluster and tried to find out how to connect it on my 2003
Any help appreciated!
