Got this shroud that is made for a 12" Spal fan. The fan fits perfectly but I noticed the inside diameter of the shroud could be bigger. It looks like the shroud could be opened up half an inch or so. Would you bother with tracing and cutting away to make the hole larger or just run it how it is? This is for a 1/2 size Koyo radiator with a 1400cfm 12" Spal fan.
If it were me I’d just leave it as is for durability. But you can cut it, just not that much because if you look at the sides, it is already kind of thin, so you don’t want it too thin on the sides. You could do an oval shape with more off the top and bottom, and less on the sides.
Yeah cut it out, if you can grab something to check CFM’s in my fan adventures you’d be surprised at how many fans don’t actually output what they say. As for now I won’t use anything but Spal because they all have actually output higher than advertised.
