Default Help Installing EVO-2's

Installing two Sparco EVO-2's in George's car (w/sliders and all) and hit a little road block.

He insists on using the factory seat belts on the street.

Has anyone installed the factory seatbelt latch on the EVO's? Got any pointers on how to do this easily?

Thanks very much for the link.

Scott's treatise doesn't face the problem that we're facing now, and that I'm sure Scott faced sooner or later.

The problem not solved in Scott's information is what to do with the harness mount that is now screwed into the side of the stock seat.

I'll write and ask him how he did it, and thanks again.

Anybody else done this? I'm sure there are quite a few Sparcos rolling around in ITR that are still used on the street.

We must have both the stock seatbelts for the street (mandatory in Virginia), and the harnesses for the track.

well, I bought an EVO2, Sparco slider/brackets and thought about that same issue.

I ended up searching on http://www.car-part.com for an old Honda seat latch thingy. I found one for around $30 out the door. Got it, and it fits the stock seat belts perfectly.

Since the guy bailed (he's slowly paying me back) whom I bought the seat from, I now have a Civic buckle and a bracket/slider but no seat

summary: go to car-part.com and email the sellers there a picture of the push-button buckle from S&M. Salvage companies like pictures.

Then where does the eye bolt w/the harness latches on it go?

As for that, maybe drill a hole for an eye bolt with a backing plate, like you would do for the 5th point?

Mount the eyebolt below the center console, there is a stock hole that can be used for this purpose.

From the research I have done, I have a plan for how to do mine when the time comes.

You need a seatbelt latch from another Honda, like mentioned above. Then with a long eye-bolt you bolt it to the exhaust tunnel like so:

The only complication is that on the backside of this bolt is a heat shield for the exhaust that may need to be cut, and the axhaust needs to be dropped to work in there.

Then, on the door side, you replace the factory seatbelt archor bolt with an eye-bolt and you have this:

These pictures were taken from Scott's write-up on http://www.sandmracing.com on how to mount his harness, as he already had the Evo's installed. Check it out. It has a lot of good info.

Hope this helps.

What would be cool is a stock belt that had a seperate lap belt and shoulder belt, maybe like a 2nd gen teg, so that you could run the lap belt and the shoulder belt through the holes in the seat.

Sounds like a pain in the *** though.
