Everything is as working fine on the display panel when suddenly the display screen went black and showing colored vertical lines.
tried to reset it and still not working. Took it in to the dealer and they said there was an internal short and the entire panel has to be replaced for a total of $1,500. No longer under warranty too. Was also told I couldn’t go anywhere else outside of Honda because the parts won’t match the VIN and basically it would not work and i wouldn’t be able to use the new display screen.
anybody else had this issue and had it resolved? Tips? Advice?
Hi, I'm wondering if you've had resolution for this problem. I am having the same issue on my 2017 Civic. Sometimes the display works and sometimes there are vertical lines and nothing works!

I would just search the junk yards and see if you can find a crashed one and remove the screen. I highly doubt the radios are vinn specific, aftermarket units work fine and iv even heard of people upgrading the standard radios in the LX base models with touch screen units from the premium models like SI, EX etc. They are some mods needed but i think if you found one from the same model as yours it should work.
Wunfstgsr,
Thank you very much for the information. That was really helpful. I'm in the process of getting one of the eBay items and will have it installed. MUCH better than going to the dealer. Very much appreciate your help!

Removing the radio is actually very easy! look on you tube on aftermarket radio installs on the 2016+ civic, there are a few vids that show how to remove the stereo its very easy I've done recently when i installed a aftermarket android radio, it diddnt work because i think they sent me the wrong kit and or it was just a cheap kit, i should of payed more for the better brands but I'm just gonna stick with the stock radio for now.
