2003 Honda CR-V AT.

I'm hearing a ticking/hissing noise starting at 4000rpm and progressing until around 4500rpm. It's distinct from my VTEC, and is similarly rhythmic but sounds more like scraping or high pressure hissing than rocker arms tapping. It only happens under load, and is independent of the speed or what gear I'm in. I'm experiencing a slight decrease in power when accelerating near these rpm's, but otherwise my drive performance seems normal. My rpm is fine at idle, I don't have any codes, and recent repairs include my catalytic converter about 15k miles ago, a valve adjustment done about 10k miles ago, and quite a bit of suspension work (shocks, struts, bushings, control arms, tires, etc.) about 5k miles ago.

My oil is only about 2k miles old and looks fine, but I can't remember how long it's been since I changed it (thanks to COVID I take my car out a handful of times a week) so I'm going to do an oil change this weekend. I'm also near due for an air filter change, and when I was doing my suspension I noticed some cracking on my exhaust hangers, so I think I'll replace both items when I change my oil as well. I have a list of other things to check, and I'm wondering if there's any guesses as to why this noise would be occurring that I can add to it.

Two items I saw from similar posts on the forum are an exhaust manifold leak and loose driveshaft heat shield. Is there anything else you think could be causing/contributing to it?

i know in both my 94 civic and iam starting to hear it in my 97 od when i accelerate hard it sounds like a bike chain rubbing on a guard or something like that with mine

 

Any updates on this? I'm having the same exact same problem.
