Please help my honda element runs fine during good weather but the moment it starts raining my car starts acting up like it running out gas not accelerating pass 50 mph and if I leave it running while Im pumping gas the car will die so I don't know if this has any thing to do with the rain or something else I would appreciate any feedback thanks
1. Check your battery terminals and connectors to make sure they are corrosion free and tight. Clean and tighten as necessary.
2. Check the other end of the battery ground that attaches to the car's body, Ground G1 (see image). You may even want to remove the ground bolt and sand the area to bare metal and reattach.
3. Check behind the glove compartment and see if there is water leaking onto the ECM/PCM (car's computer). Corrosion would also be a tell-tale sign of moisture getting in.
Are you getting a check engine light? Mine loves to leak rain water from the passenger side windshield sprayer in the hood and drip DIRECTLY on the VTEC oil pressure sensor plug. This makes the PCM think the VTEC solenoid is stuck and puts the engine into limp mode.
