Default Help!!!

Im new to the honda world sorry. I just bought a 96 accord 4 door with the vtec. Paid $200. Guy said it was stuck in 4th gear. I'm mechanically inclined I like to think so I went with it, thought it would be simple. Longer story short. Push clutch in and car starts just fine. Let clutch out and shifter in the neutral position and car acts like its under a bind or something. I can move shifter 1,2,3,4 and reverse not 5th. If I shift into 3rd I can get car to move but like its in 5th trying to take off. Checked trans fluid and it was burnt n very low so I drained and put new. Linkage all moves as it should. Any help or questions would be appreciated thanks.

Default Re: Help!!!

I would presume clutch fingers or something in that area is broken. Possible throw out failure. Take out the clutch so you can look at it. I'd probably just get a new clutch plate and flywheel and put it in.

While you are there you can see if there are any cables that are stretched, loose, disconnected, etc.

If you are mechanically inclined, you should be able to change the clutch without too much of an issue.
Here's a nice video to follow to help:
