Icon4 Making sure I have everything before I start ripping it apart...Any advice

So step one is going to be the timing belt replacement and head studs...Here is my list of parts:
  • OEM head gasket
  • ARP head studs
  • Gates timing belt
  • OEM water pump
  • OEM oil pump
  • OEM timing belt tensioner
  • OEM timing belt tensioner spring
  • OEM valve cover gasket
Next I plan to do a tune up and get the car ready for boost
  • OEM cap
  • OEM rotor
  • NGK BKR7E spark plugs
  • NGK RC-HE82 spark plug wires

Can anyone see something I'm missing so far? I don't want to start into it and realize I missed something obvious.

Yea and I'm also contemplating on doing an ATI street balancer. I'm 50/50 on doing that now or later.

So the car isn't tuned obviously. Should I get more than just 4 spark plugs?

you can but, not much reason to do that unless you're gonna put a couple thousand miles on them before tuning.

Sometimes people change the cam seals also when doing the timing belt. If you're changing the oil pump, won't you need an oil pan gasket also? I'm not sure, but I would think so. Also, if you plan to turbocharge, are you sure you need an OEM head gasket, or would you want to go with another one now such as JE Pro seal or Skunk2 multi-layer?...

Yes

Wouldnt worry about the dampener personally. ATI makes a nice piece though.

Sorry forgot to mention that. I have a Myhondapro or whatever it is called gasket and stud kit. The oil pan will be a Moroso being bunged and welded by none other than Greg at Autoworks for the miniram manifold placement.

And what cam seals? I'm not removing the cam gears.

With the head off, it's a good time to replace the water pipe o-rings while you have easy access. You'll need a tube of HondaBond or Permatex Ultra-Grey for resealing various places. Other things to consider replacing while you're "there":
  • oil jet o-ring
  • oil pickup gasket (it's usually crispy)
  • plug wires if they are older
  • Anything else rubber that is accessible - gaskets, hoses, etc.

The cam seal is behind the cam gear. If it's not leaking, then it's ok. It's for preventative maintenance.

Ah ok...No I'm not going to do that. I don't plan to keep this head very long. Will be going Vtec as soon as I can source a head.
