Icon5 Engine Code 8 & 9 Still Persisting after dizzy change

Hello,

As the title suggests my EG is currently suffering from code 8 & 9 (sometimes its 8 or 9). It was running fine for a bit with these on but at a point it would start and randomly turn off, then it would crank and not start up.

Changed the dizzy with the new one today and still nothing has changed. Starts up for a bit then eventually it turns off again. Timing on the dizzy should be fine so no clue what to do next.

Any help would be appreciated.

If you didn't set the ignition timing after swapping the dizzy, then you can't assume it's fine.

I would also trace and continuity check all wires from the dizzy to the ECU. If resistance is more than 10 or 20 ohms it would be suspect. I think it should be under 10 ohms for the distance if I remember correctly.

Oh and ground G101 is also a likely area for challenge.

Lastly, many of the dizzy wires are shielded wires, if they've been cut and spliced at any point that too could pose a problem.

Check your thermostat ground. Check continuity for both pairs of wires for the sensor pairs you have trouble with. Swap in a known good ECU and see if the codes go away.

Bumping this thread to update.

Ended up taking the car to a local mechanic and the guy discovered that their was some shady wiring running from the dizzy to the ECU which ended up burning around three tracks on the ECU itself hence why the car sometimes won't start and throws codes etc.

Bought a new P08 ecu and has been running fine for the last 3 days. Did bring up code 1 for oxygen sensor last night, here's hoping its not too much of an issue.
