2018 CR-V Brakes Question
Hello,
I have a 2018 CR-V that may have air in the brake system. As part of scheduled maintenance I flushed the brake fluid a couple months ago. Ever since then the pedal feels as if it's just not as solid as it used to be. Braking performance is ok and I can get the brakes to lock up and ABS to activate just fine. I don't feel anxious driving the vehicle. The pedal just doesn't feel quite like I remember it did before the fluid flush. Any techs or others out there that can lend their experience to this? Is this something you'd be concerned with? I'm just not sure if the boosters on these vehicles give a less than solid pedal feel or not?
Some more info: the pedal feels rock solid after the electric booster shuts down. No sponginess at all. I would think if air were in the system the pedal would feel spongy even without any boost. With car running I can somewhat easily press the pedal all the way down until it bottoms out on something. It doesn't go all the way to the floor like it does when bleeding the brakes, but it definitely bottoms out against something about halfway to the floor. I'd be curious to know what it's bottoming out on if anyone knows.
My plan is to bleed the master cylinder to see if any air got trapped at the end of it. When I flushed the fluid the front of the car was up on jack stands so maybe some air got trapped at the high point of the master cylinder. I was very diligent about not letting the reservoir get low, but maybe not diligent enough. Or maybe this is just in my head and I should leave it alone? Thank you in advance for your help!
