Swap the plugs on your VTP and ECT sensors... they are backwards. VTP = Black and Blue/Black wires; ECT = Red/White and Green/Black wires.

You failed to provide a good pic of the distributor cap. If you purchased an OBD-2 B16 distributor cap, and it didn't fit... what EXACTLY was the fitment issue ? Bolt holes on the flat side too close together ?

Broken wires... pinched wires... previous owner had some bunk-*** electrical gizmo purchased from EBay that promised to add 50 wheel HP... who cares what the reasoning was. Fix it and move on. Sometimes there just isn't a good reason why. Do yourself a favor and don't try and get into the mind of an idiot... it is a dangerously contagious place to be.

Does the engine run properly ? If not, you may have some improper wiring connections at the distributor. If it runs properly, wire color is immaterial. The reasons could be as simple as a replacement wire in a plug that didn't match the original wire color. It could also be that the original wiring has discolored over time... fading and appearing to be a different color when in fact it is the proper original wire.

it's hard to tell just from the harness plug to the distributor, but two butt connectors is definitely not a butchered harness. I'll post a picture of my stock 00 si dizzy harness

I dont know much about aftermarket mods on the car and its possible at some point it had an aftermarket coil or ecu to control ignition or the coil. Its also possible that a mouse could have chewed the wire or they just frayed from getting stretched
