First time issue for Honda Ody
First time for this to happen w a 2019 Odyssey apparently. Needed a new battery in Feb so we got an 880cca AGM battery at Advance Auto. $300+ and put it in. No issue right away that night, but after 2 trial starts it had a long hesitated start the next day. The following few days it was the same, long hesitated starts, having to hold the start button in to let it crank & crank. NOT a starter issue or alternator, unless the alt isn't strong enough for the higher amp battery. But the 880 is reccommended for the Elite. Took it to mechanic & they could not find an issue, no codes. Decided maybe it was a bad battery from the store. Went to Advance to trade it out & had a new one put in. It took a lot of attempts & effort to get it to start after that install. It drove for me to get to a baby shower, then after the shower another long, hard start. Got home, would not start again. It does not even try. Nothing comes on except the start button has a white light around it. No power to the fuse box under the steering column. Fuses under hood are all good.
Now, with it being dead, and no jump start works, there is an issue of having it towed to the dealer because of it needing to be in Neutral. I learned how that must occur, but have no idea how to manipulate the nut to keep it held in the turned position to stay in neutral. If the wrench moves from turned it goes back into Park position.
Honda service was unaware of this. I called & informed them. Why is Honda not training their techs on this? Tow truck drivers don't know about this even. How are we supposed to trust Honda to fix our van when they don't even know how to get the van to the service department?? Much less know what is going on electrically. I am so stressed, upset, angry, frustrated & downright betrayed feeling by purchasing from Honda. I can't even file a complaint according to the girl I spoke with at the complaint dept.
