I'm still working on my other 95 del sol that runs but is doing some funky bogging under load. i've pretty much decided to finish painting then get it on the road and see if i can cure it with fuel injector cleaners because it runs ok as long as i don't go hard on the gas.... BUT, the BIG NEWS is that a neighbor had a 95, white del sol on his property and gave it to me as a gift. it's got a 1.6 dohc vtec from a japanese integra, 4 wheel disks, AC, PS, PB, free-flow exhaust et.... the fuel pump wasn't energizing so i pulled it and i'm glad i did. all of the rubber components were literally falling apart. the gas line was gooey. the rubber mount just fell apart. i've never seen it this bad before. so waiting on a fuel pump then i'm pretty sure this thing will run. it's going to be a lot of fun. a street legal gokart.... oh, i also painted the valve cover and added the red cover. it's taking shape.
i'm hoping that i don't have to pull the engine. the front bumper is the worst of the bad paint. also, no dents just a couple small door dings. the body is solid with just one rust hole . the hood at the lip has significant rust but can be saved.
Great score! Good luck with the rebuild. They are special cars....
Amazingly, this is my third, white, del sol. The one i'm painting is a stock 1.5 S which is what my first del sol was. but i was always interested in getting one that's been hotrodded and it just fell in my lap. i lead a charmed life. other things that i wanted also fell in my lap but i passed on them and regret the hell out of it.
an all stock 66 GTO owned by an old lady for $1K. long story here....
a 69 GTO that needed nothing for $8K
a wranger Jeep for $1,800.
a cobra replica for $10k.
with just these cars alone i'd have increaded my net worth by over $100K. stupid stupid stupid.
so i'm not passing on any more good deals.
