Default Battery Issues?

Hey guys, got a ‘99 Automatic Civic LX which has been my daily driver for a bit now. No issues out of the car until as if today. I was driving home and my battery light came on and my car suddenly died on me. Pulled it off to the side and tried restarting the vehicle, no luck. I’ve tried googling but I’ve found that google gives me no luck so I figured I’d ask here.

The indicator with the battery symbol is an issue with the charging system. Check the connections on the battery and alternator. But, it may just a failed alternator.

I’ve checked all the connections, no problems with the connections. Tried starting the car again, it cranks but won’t turn over. Gonna see about getting another alternator tomorrow and see how that goes.

Should probably test the battery too. Sometimes a bad alternator can destroy the battery to where it won't hold a charge anymore.

alternator brush assemblies don't last forever:

not sure if that one will fit so double check.
the install trick is to depress the brushes and secure with fishing line.
once in place cut line and discard it.
voila! new alternator for 20 clams!

UPDATE:

Civic is still down at the moment. I had a mechanic come out and inspect my vehicle to try and get a better idea of what my issue was as I’m not mechanically inclined to do so. He told me my issue was spark plugs/wires... so I changed spark plugs and wires out. Still no start. Well, now there is no SPARK! So with that being said, I figured my distributor might have went out on me(as it’s been a bit worn out) so I replaced that hoping I’d get spark back. Nope.

so now as of the moment I’ve replaced Wires/Plugs and the distributor. Car still has no spark, but I am getting fuel as the fuel pump primes. Could anyone help me out a bit more? I’m looking into having someone bring a computer out to read my cars codes to see if that will get me further.

if it helps any further my ‘99 Civic has a swapped D Series motor that I had to CKF bypass. Not sure if that would be an issue or not either

yeah a non-working crank sensor will definitely cause your car not have spark so might want to check the bypass. Why the bypass? Check to see if you have pulse and power at the fuel injectors(use/ borrow a noid light--maybe autzone easiest way for you-- if no then the ecu does not have all the inputs it requires(one of them being the crank sensor) to fire the car up- bad ecu is poosible faulty crank sensor possible. If you have a build in tachometer on the dashboard check for movement of the needle(it will be very slight) when you crank the car- If you have movement then the crank/cam signals are ok.

I was told to do the bypass because the engine I was putting in to the civic was a JDM D series and didn’t come with a crank sensor is what I was told.

Back again with another update: So, car is still down. I’ve checked all fuses under dash - All good to go, checked all fuses under the hood - all good to go. Checked my bypass on the ECU - All good on that end. Battery tested the battery and it’s good to go. Car still not starting or getting spark for that matter.

main relay clicks on when key is turned to ignition(right before starting) so I don’t believe the main relay is messed up. I’m starting to become at a loss for what could be the issue with why the car isn’t firing up.

hooked a code reader up the other day to get codes and I got a O2 sensor code took car of that and the car started up briefly then shut car off and now it won’t start anymore. Hooked code reader up again and this time code reader will not pull codes keeps giving me a communication error.

PARTS REPLACED SO FAR: Spark Plugs, Wires, Distributor

Are you getting voltage to the distributor? Check that.

Still could be alternator, it sounds like.
