I've only had this vehicle for a month or so. I saw this dangling in the engine compartment yesterday, left side. It looks as if it could be some sort of inertia switch, with the metal ball designed to ground out against the two metal terminals inside the bubble in event f what, I don't know. One of the wires coming off of it has been cut. I can find no information in the owner's manual, nor in the Chilton book I have. Any information would be appreciated.

 

Whatever it is, it's not factory. Do you have an aftermarket alarm? Or perhaps it used to? Start tracing back that loom.

 

No alarm, and it disappears into a wiring harness on the firewall.
