Gt3076r vs turbonetics 6157. Worth swapping to the garret from the t’netics
The 6157 is already on the car, journal bearing unit, very recently rebuilt. As soon as I get my new shop finished up I’m tearing into my integra for some major upgrades including installing a Holley terminator x stand alone and Engine harness, pulling every single wire out of the rest of the car and making a new body harness, going through the engine and installing a set of pauter x beam rods, some good forged pistons, likely wiseco or ares and just overall cleaning the whole car up. I have always wanted a 4 cyl car with a gt35 but have recently realized that, that will probably be way more turbo than what I actually need. It’s a drag oriented car and will stay that way, hoping to be 2200 lbs or less with me in it. Goal is to make 450 to the tires with a ability to swap tunes to make 500 to the tires. Like I said I a,ready have the 6157 so that’s money I dot have to spend. Looks like they will both support a bit over 500hp. I would imagine the spool time on the garret would be quicker as it’s a ball bearing unit and I think available with a billet wheel. Do y’all think it’s worth dropping the money on? I would ask $500 for the 6157 leaving me have to pull about ~$900 out of my wallet
Just curious, with options like Hondata S300/AEM/Neptune/MSPRO/Motec/etc... why opt for the Holley turminator route on a Honda?
(IMO, assuming this a B series Honda, you'd be hard pressed to effectively make 500whp out of a GT3076R. If changing to a Garrett then a GTX30 or GTW3476 would both be better suited. If it is solely a drag car then spool up isn't nearly as crucial as say a "street car". If the only 2 options are 6157 JB or GT3076R...I'd stick to 6157)

you seem to know your stuff so couple of questions.why would a 3076 not make 500? It’s advertised to supply enough air for 500. It is a street car so I would like to have decent spool times. Was I correct with my original thought if a 35r unit? Just seems a bit over kill.
edit, definitely open to other non garret options, but would like to stay within the $13-1400 price point
with the 35R unit I think it’s rated to 550 or 600 hp so at 500 it would be operating more efficiently. I don’t think it would be overkill, I think the 35R would be good for 500 hp and be efficient.
I had to go back and double check. Y’all are right the max on the gt30 is 500 and the 35 is good to 600. So yea the 35 is what I would need to be looking at, for some reason I had it in my head that was like a 700hp turbo. So now that we got that ironed out, worth the money or keep the 6157 and spend the money elsewhere. I have zero intention of going past 500 with this car, if I feel I need more than that I’ll throw the big jets in the camaro and get it out. The intention of this car is to Be a fair whether semi daily driver. I have a s10 for the full dd duties. Maybe I should just get the car done then see where the 6157 takes me then upgrade if need be, but according to the guy I talked to at turbonetics while Id’ing the turbo, it’s a 500hp max turbo too, fairly old outdated unit too I suppose

more control, resolution, easy to use software, easier to add things. Better question, why not a Holley? Superior to the ms3x, cheaper than a MoTeC, and better than any stock ecu solution. Yes its a b series, b16 to be exact

A 3076 making 500whp would (IMO) be on its absolute limit; and at the same time I wouldn't use a 35R for a 500whp B series. In Garrett, BB GTW3476 would be an all around better fit and is in the price range given. (if the turbonetics is a Billet wheel 61mm w/ a F1 57mm turbine wheel and .63a/r or larger turbine housing then it will support over 500whp on a B series given everything else is in check to support it)

I can't see a Term X being easier/more flexible/usable on a 500HP B series than a S300, but hey, maybe. Be sure to post progress when you start using/wiring it in.

You can tune it fast? Good for you. Doesnt make it a good platform. After adding in realistic features for a fwd theres zero reason to stick with s300 besides “its what my tuner likes” get a new tuner
I’m going crank trigger with cam sync for sequential fuel and spark also, I know the S300 can do individual coils but not sure if it can do sequential fuel and spark. My original choice was a ms3x as I’m already familiar with tuner studio, my camaro has a ms3 pro gen 1. My tuner has since discontinued support for any and all ms stuff due to a lawsuit involving Him and diy auto tune, not sure if it was required or a personal choice to not support anything to do with diy. His recommendation around the same price point was hands down the termi x and I trust his judgement and knowledge. So far the only thing I see it being limited at is crank trigger support, it is not fully configurable and only supports a few wheel configurations. I’ll likely be using a 36-1 crank wheel and a single magnet in one of the cam gears. You may ask why go full sequential at that power level? And for that I have no good answer other than just cause. Gives me something to do with a few of these spare ls coil packs I have laying around haha. And you are correct about the turbonetics. Unit, that is exactly what I is on the car. Thanks a lot for the info, much appreciated. I’ve never documented a build before but I may this one since it will be my second complete rewire and my first build in my brand new shop.
That's a stretch...but cool, everyone is entitled to their opinion.
