idk if anyone still responds, but i just bought a 94 vx and its my first time owning one. ive never had any experience with the d15z1 and honestly i am blown away with every detail about this car. this is my 4th eg and might be my favorite one yet. just based on my fellow vx owners expertise, what kinda oil are you guys using? my car is at 320k and shows no signs of it at all and like to keep it that way. also what octane rating do you all use? amazing numbers

As for oil, if it's not consuming oil Full synthetic 5w30 for best fuel economy. Standard 87 octane always. Anything more is throwing money away as the car is designed for 87. If it is consuming oil then I always do the cheapest 5w30 conventional motor oil and continually top her up with the 2nd jug.

I have 94 VX as well, mine with 260k. I love that car. I tried 0W-20 (for mileage) and it burned through it faster, but the 5W-30 works fine. I use the low octane fuel because the D15Z1 has such low compression.
