Default 2006 Honda CRV -Help

I recently bought a 2006 Honda CR-V. The rear hatch won’t lock, but all the other doors will either lock and unlock. Any help is appreciated.

It could be the actuator.

No. It’s a fair assumption and somewhat common given the age of the vehicle that the actuator could fail. If you’re not able to fix this yourself then take it to a shop.

Check under dash fuses.
to troubleshoot the actuator remove the door panel and check for power and ground and work backwards

I got it fixed, partially. The previous owner(s) repeatedly slammed the door shut and the little screws that help the actuator loosened off. I put everything back together and the door now closes and locks, however the door will not open unless I use both the key and handle from the outside. I’m good with that, so we’ll mark it as fixed. Thank you.

It's also possible that the car has been rear-ended. Does the hatch open light appear on the dash? You can also wrap some black electrical tape around the lever where it contacts the door.

Sounds lock the lock actuator is not unlocking. If you manually unlock it with the key open and then close the door, will it open again without inserting the key into the lock?

No, the key has to be turned and the handle pulled in at the same time in order to open the door.
