2000 honda coolant fan turns on when ac is on shuts off when engine cools down.
Hello i have a 2000 honda accord lx . My coolant fan doesn't turn on when my engine warms up.. I turn on my ac both fans turn on for about 3 minutes or longer then shut off. When I don't have the ac on the fans do not turn on... I believe the engine temp sensor is still good.. but my coolant sensor for the fan is bad.. ? Not sure what is your opinion about this.?
Mostly. when. You turn on the a/c cars run. Hotter... So the car Maker's make the fans. Run ,fix your. Coolant fan switch...before you blow it up.
The 2 fans will gun with the a/c on because they are removing heat from the condenser. This is normal. Whenever the PCM calls for the a/c compressor to engage it also engages the fans to run for the condenser operation.
The PCM switches ground ON at the fan relays.
The fan temp switch will also switch on the tad fan if it reaches high coolant temp by turning ground on at the relays as well. If the temp gauge is going beyond normal range you should see fans running. Check the coolant make sure its up to the top of the rad cap. If your low it could overheat without turning fans on. To test the switch, unplug it and short the terminals on the connector and that should trip the fans ( key must be on)
