Hey guys I have a 94 Honda Civic EX 1.6 4 cylinders that recently while driving home broke off its harmonic balancer. At first I thought it was the alternator and went and bought it. When I got back I started to remove the alternator and upon removing the belt I noticed the balancer fell off. I brought it up out of the car and I saw it broke off from where the bolt goes. The last person to mess with my engine was a smog test specialist who I already contacted and he said it wasn't him but he told me he had to fix the timing belt because it was off and emissions were off. And now this happens I had a mechanic friend tell me either that guy helps you fix it or you buy a new engine. But my question is.. isn't there a way to fix it that might cost me less than getting another engine ? Please help my car is everything... Thanks everyone!! This is what I want to know about can I fix it instead of getting another engine?
