Default Unknown vacuum hose, help identify.

So a few mouths ago, i get this 98 civic auto 1.6, it had vacuum issues with one of the metal lines going into the intake was blocked and by unblocking it, this hose started pulling air causing a big vacuum leak (See pix below) It was stuffed under a wiring harness, why, IDK.

We plugged it and the car ran great, as it got cold, it didn't want to start and found giving it some gas, it started up fine but with very low idle when letting off the gas. Ok, its a $300 car, who cares, if thats the only issue, i can live with that. So i started putting some tape under the throttle body thing to give it a little higher idle in the morning, but that sets a check light with something to do with the idle solenoid, so i figure the reason for this low idle was something to do with that vacuum hose, but i can't for the life of me found anything to where it goes. I've seen 3 civics now of the same year or around it and they didn't have this hose.

Took some pix of it, i think there is some stuff missing it would plug in to, but i can't find anything online about it.

If you plug it, you get very low idle at start up and have to give it gas for about 30 seconds No engine light though unless you put tape under the throttle plate thing, then you get a code. If you unplug it, you get high idle, pour MPG and a fuel mix code come up.

If you have a civic with this hose, could you please send some pix of it, would love to know where this hose goes.

Thanks

Have you checked the vin to confirm if the car is supposed to be vtec or non vtec?

As far as I can tell from the pictures you have a vtec head. Does the block have the D16Y8 stamp?

Or is the car the vtec-e model that is the D16Y5 motor?

It looks like it's the part from a 99-00 D16Y8 motor and the vacuum line goes to the intake tube between the air filter and the throttle body. I'd hazard a guess someone dropped a 99-00 D16Y8 motor into your 98.

Re: TomCat39

It looks like that's exactly what has happened, they just kept the old intake that didn't have the hole in it for this tube. I made another hole for it but still high idle, it seems that FIACV thing is bad, but i can't find one and honda does not sell it anymore. So for now, i just put some tape over it and poked a hole in it and that seems to be working great for now.

Thanks for the help.
