Default Headlight help please........

Hello all,
We have a 2005 Accord EX coup with the V6. Last week the passenger low beam went out. Bulb was still good but replaced anyway, no luck. The fuse in the under hood box (I believe position 6?)was bad and replaced, but as soon as you turn on the lights, it blows the fuse again.

I traced the wiring harness and could find no short, or in the light plug either. I isolated the wire for that circuit in the fuse box and still blows fuse as soon as the headlight switch is turned on. Next we changed the headlight switch, and everything worked. Put everything back together, and boom, blows the fuse again.

So, what do I check next? Only thing I can think of is a short in the wiper switch since the headlight switch plugs into it, or a short in the fuse block that only shows when the bottom cover is snapped back on.

Any help or ideas is greatly appreciated.

If you disconnect the connector to the passenger side headlight bulb, does it still blow out the fuse when the headlight switch is turned on?

Yes it does. I also traced the wire back to the fuse box and disconnected it about 5 inches from the box, and still blows the fuse.

I am hoping it's not the plugs that go into the fuse box. Just is very frustrating I have the fuse box apart with the bottom cover off, and the steering column trim off from replacing the headlight switch and everything works. Put it back together, and it blows the fuse immediately.

I would first suspect a short in the wires on the harness that plugs into the fuse box.

Did you disconnect the 14-Gry harness connector that plugs into the bottom of the under-hood fuse box?

I have not yet, I only had removed the bottom cover to expose all the plugs and a visual inspection.

The headlight wire in question is red with a green stripe. That is in the big grey plug?

It is a large gray plug with various wires mainly related to the lighting system.

Ok, thanks. I will take apart again tomorrow and post back if I find anything.

It's 25 degrees out, too damn cold to do anything tonight
