7.5 inch rims instead of 7 inch
I brought my 2015 Honda CRV with 225/65R17 snow tires into the Honda dealer to have the winter tires installed on steel rims. When I got the vehicle back they had the tires on 17x7.5J rims instead of the specified 17x7J rims. Will this matter or am I fretting over nothing. I specifically stated on the work order for 17X7 inch rims only because for some reason I expected something like this to happen. I know the 17x7.5 inch rims were specified for the 2017+ CRV's but these are fitted with 235/65R17 and not 225/65R17 like my 2015. Should I go back to the dealer and insist on the proper size rims?
You're fretting over 13mm (1/2") of increased wheel width, and 10mm (3/8") of increased tire width. As far as increased height, it's about ~6mm (1/4") taller.
If you halve those dimensions, that is what will be on the inside and outside of the widths of the (1/4") tire and (3/16") wheel, and as far as the height, it only increases the ride height by 1/8" and you lose 1/8" of tire clearance.
It's negligible.

Thanks that reduces my concern a lot. However I was also thinking about the implications over if I hit a pothole and bent the rim and a garage replaced the bent rim with the factory 17x7 inch rim so then i would have three 17x7.5 and one 17x7 and also if I had a computerized wheel alignment done would the extra dimensions affect the reading since the computer is looking for a 17x7 inch rim.
