Aftermarket Manual Transmission Fluid JDM ITR LSD
Found others claiming that 98 ITR JDM transmission LSD did not like Pennzoil Syhcromesh manual tranmission fluid.
I am considering using it or possibly some other similar brand but wanted to know is there any validity to these reports?
If so what does Pennzoil syncromesh fluid do that Honda Genuine fluid can?
I have looked on Honda bottle and find no viscosity index or anything close to what the stuff is made out of.

What about Torco or Motul is better than Honda MTF or Pennzoil in your experience?
It seems keep finding these described as light fluids, what does this mean lighter than what? Are all these MTFs basically the same viscosity ?
I know some Honda models used to cal for 10W-30 to be used as fluid for transmission before Honda MTF existed.
Also I installed carbon syncros in so not sure if that changes what best would be used.

In my transmission (OEM ITR) I ran Honda MTF in it but I found once it got hot on the track the transmission didn't shift as smoothly. Switched it out for Motul Gear 300 LS 75w90 it was a night and day difference, shifting gear at any speed or any rpm street or track. People may shy away from Pennzoil maybe to the additives that are in it. I have recently upgraded to a cusco lsd (Clutch style) and used the same Motul fluid and it works great.
Have heard 75W90 gear oil is basically equal to the viscosity of 10W40 motor oil. So what would be the issue with just using a synthetic motor oil (synthetic to get additives) that is rated 10W40 for manual transmission fluid?

Don't use motor oil, it lacks additives a transmission needs (synthetic makes no difference).
You can use any MTF with a clutch type LSD, just use Torco Type F Friction Modifier with it.

Motul Gear 300 LS 75w-90 it's GL-5 fluid which Cusco recommends for the lsd, I agree the Cusco stuff is expensive and not too many local shops carry it.
Only fluid I've found locally is Lucas 75w90 and Vavoline and Pennziol syncromesh. Are al you guys ordering the Torco and Motul online?
Oreilys, Advance auto, and autozone do not have Torco or Motul in my area.

My transmission has a helical LSD so does it need a friction modifier too?
LiquiMoly has a decent oil for the price that's also recommended and tried.

GM syncromesh with friction modifiers, if you can find it. I think it is out of production, but I bought a couple of cases of it years ago.
Been running it forever in my Hondas, gets rid of the 2nd gear synchro skip if you experience it.
