Good evening all,
I've read alot of topics and watch many videos how to check whether oxygen sensor is working or not, however my father honda civic has 5 wire sensor and i'm not confident how to proceed. Can you give me some advises please? Thanks.

The ECU usually sets off a check engine code when they go bad.

Do you have any check engine codes/light ?

You can try buying a Haynes manual online or from a auto parts store and look for the trouble shooting steps for the O2 sensors, they should guide you on how to test them.

 

The D15Z1 vtec-e motor from USDM/CDM should be pretty close to your D15Z3 as for procedure. Please see the LAF pages below:

 

Thanks, a lot. Yes the engine light is on for some reason, not sure if it is the o2 sensor or something else.Have to explain my father the trick of reading the code number by the engine light as he is not having engine tester. Hope i can apply this method on this particular model(shorting the green connector pins). Will post you the results.
