AEM Wideband Gauge smoking issue. Will AEM help out?
Hey, so I have an x series wideband in my EM1 and today I was driving around town and it unexpectedly started kind of flashing like if the ground was loose and then the gauge itself started smoking. I checked the ground and everything and they were all good but the gauge just would not turn back on, I unplugged it and plugged it back in and it started smoking again, I opened it up and the plastic display outline piece was melted. My guess is that it is clapped out? Any information on this problem that I am having is greatly appreciated, thanks.
I am not sure... there are many factors that will influence AEM's response, but other than a few dollars in shipping costs, what do you have to lose ? The alternative is to buy another one and install it. It just seems to me that because it began smoking from the gauge body itself, and there is no apparent wiring issues present, maybe they would make some exception for you and simply replace it.
The usually ask you to pay $100 for inspection and IF they find or determine its a factory defect and not user error they will replace it .
Try a innovate MTXL the AEM wide band hurts my brain just looking at it while its on. The innovate is also faster.
