My 2006 CRV has decided that it does not want to start any more.
It is a no-crank/no-start issue. I have both substituted a good
battery and had mine (18 mos old) load tested, and it passes the
test. Yet the car acts almost as if the battery is bad. Sometimes
it will attempt to crank just very little bit and then stop. Most
of the time it does nothing. My searches suggest that this is a bad
starter issue, or possibly a wiring issue. The car has 116k on it.
It would be very helpful if someone could post a pdf or something
of the starter electrical diagram showing the interconnections
between the battery, ignition sw, relays, solenoid, etc. Also,
post a photo or diagram showing the location of the starter solenoid.
My searches for the starter solenoid only bring up results for a
transmission solenoid. I know that these computer-controlled cars
are very sensitive to prodding and poking about in the electrical
circuits, and I do not want to poke about unless I know exactly what
I am poking.
Thank y'all for any assistance.
Misc note - this is my second CRV. My first was a 2000. I put
160k on it and then gave it to a granddaughter, and she ran it up
to 220k or so, and has now given it to yet another granddaughter.
Still runs like a charm. Good car.

Its very very basic... no computers are involved in the starter circuit. Also, there is no solenoid to replace on it ( its internal in the unit.. its called a plunger.)
Just get a new starter. Amazon and rock auto sells all kinds . Ive used them on 3 crvs , no issues at all and not expensive. Usually CRV dosen't have wiring issues at all. You can do a draw test while someone cranks the key but if your starter is kaput it won't give you anyting significant. 99.9 % if battery is good, connections corrosion free, its a starter failure. Nothing unusual.
Taking the intake manifold off makes it easy to get to from up top. You can service the PCV at the same time. I usually change the rock hard and sometimes plugged PCV hose and clean or replace the PCV.

WOW!! What a gold mine of information!! Thanks !!

I had considered that as a possibility, but was skeptical because the starter is so small.

I did that. eighty bux on Amazon, 280 down the street (same manufacturer), and 450 at Honda (PLUS INSTALLATION).
I had wanted to do a "bench test" of the starter while it was still in the car, both to prove the starter, and if the car
started, to be able to move it into the garage. Flopping around under a car in the driveway in Oregon's liquid sunshine
is not my idea of the best day !!!
No prob . I have the 05/06 manual so if you need anything else in the future, let my know.
i think if you open that starter up? You find worn contacts and maybe brushes . You can buy this from Honda ...see below. But for $80 the starter assembly seems the way to go. I've never tore one apart, so if you do and get the chance, post some pics .

Hi Davey7847 I just started my repair today, Was surfing a little and came across this threadhttps://honda-tech.com/forums/honda-cr-v-element-156/2002-honda-cr-v-no-crank-no-start-3354212/
I have a 2005 crv and It was running great until I had to replace the thermostat. Now it won't start and everything was put back together as it was. Any ideas. Their is no crank and no start. I do hear the relay go tho
before getting my 05, it had the same issue as well and it was the starter. fortunately they got it replaced at the dealer but that might be what you’re running into especially at you’re milage and age of the car
