Default Aem oil pressure gauge

Hey to whoever reads this. When I got my car my oil pressure at cold start was between 50 and 75 but dropped down to 15 when warmed up and was pretty normal. Now after I did a couple pulls the gauge reads zero until it warms up. It takes a long time but it eventually goes back to norma When warmed up. Does any body have any ideas as to what happened and why it’s doin this?

You mean the engine reads zero oil pressure until the car warms up?

I can only think of three things:

1 - low on oil itself
2 - Oil pump is weak
3 - Spun bearing

When the engine is warmed up what is the PSI at idle?

When the engine is warmed up does the PSI rise as engine rpm rises?

Double check the wiring and connection to the sensor and gauge.

It very well can be your oil pump that's not building PSI cause it should rise to 50 -75 like it was at cold start.

Check if your oil pump seal is blown/leaking.

Cold start: 0 psi
warmed up: 7 psi -10 psi
and it builds up 10 psi per 1000 rpm after

IMO AEM products suck just my experience, we call it AEM for Another Engine Malfunction.. Ive had their BRAND new EMS V2 and COP conversion blow on the dyno! of course they replaced the coils that blew and the ECU blew after i sold it to another guy..

it kind of sounds like your gauge may need to be calibrated, you can try removing it and send it to AEM for inspection, they do charge for inspection but if they find the part defective they will replace it for you.

I recently picked this unit up from ebay and im very pleased with it. The plug is very small and has a nice sealed plug harness. Directly replaces the OEM oil pressure sensor/ is the same thread pitch.

Try this before jumping into oil pump failure.

i always thought aem was a top notch product I will give that a try and see what happens after I check my oil pump for leaks. I just want to rule that out first. Is their any test to see if your oil pump is good or bad that can be done

These readings are impossible for a healthy running engine. A "bad" oil pump wouldn't make NO oil pressure when the engine is cold and then make SOME oil pressure once warm...
Get a test gauge and check your oil pressures cold/hot again.

do you know if autozone has a pressure gauge that can be rented?
does the pressure gauge get attached to where the pressure sensor is?

Where do you have the sensor installed?

I am not sure... I own a generic mechanical pressure gauge for this type of testing.
