Snake EMU + P28 = mistake?
Here's the situation, decided to buy a cheap 97 accord, turns out it had an F23A1 swap in it running off of an F22B1 ECU. Decided to go through the fun process of putting a turbo on the stock motor to see how far I can push it before it blows up and go from there.
Ordered myself up a whole slew of parts, .50/.63 T25 china turbo, 410cc RDX injectors, 4 bar china MAP, innovate LC2 wideband controller, P28 ecu, and a Snake EMU. I'm strictly a mechanical kind of guy, so tuning isn't in my skill set. Before buying anything, I asked my "tuner" friend to tell me what to do, what I should buy. I got the car running perfectly, full stage 0, besides the F22B1 ecu running the F23A1.
Installed all the turbo parts, was aiming for around 220-250whp, not unreasonable, did the timing belts, stage 3 clutch, poly inserts in the motor mounts, the basics, but cheap.
So now we get into the problem, my "tuner" friend shows up, says he made a basemap for the F23A1 in Honda Tuning Suite, at this point the turbo isn't connected yet, car runs fine on the basemap, no issue. I hook up the turbo and swap the injectors, basemap is iffy, car runs, gets into boost, but breaks up, still on the narrowband, install the wideband, set custom parameter for voltage, hook it up to D10 on the P28, gauge reads the same as what HTS is seeing. Car seems fine, friend is adjusting the basemap, getting the AFR's dialed in, still breaking up under boost, getting worse. Friend is starting to blame me, saying something is messed up with the car mechanically in the ignition system, no misfires other than the tune getting super rich towards boost. He keeps adjusting it, trying to figure out what's going on, keeps getting worse to the point the car won't even get into boost, won't idle, won't rev out, AFR is all over the place. Order and install 4 bar map sensor, calibrate scalar and offset, same result, go back to stock map sensor, same thing.
Now to the point, he has no idea what's wrong, he thinks it's mechanical, I think it's the tune or the Snake EMU. Car won't run correctly, map is all over the place, no boost, just breaks up, goes super rich and won't rev unless it has vacuum. As soon as it sees 0psi, engine just cuts, stops revving, sounds like it's dumping fuel and igniting in the exhaust. Before the wideband install everything was fine, not great, but running and hitting boost. Now the car is undrivable, I can't even take it to a real tuner without getting it towed.

eCtune doesn't seem to exist when I try their website. I put the stock injectors back in to see if the knock off RDX ones I got were bad, still having a similar problem and injectors are at 150% duty cycle and the boost surges to 10psi almost instantly now, yikes... I'm probably going to go back through and get a name brand 2.5bar map, appropriate injectors with known values, and an s300, been trying to figure this out for a couple weeks now. Also tried MBtune which seems to be the exact same software as HTS, literally exactly the same, but the rom files don't work, so started a new rom from scratch with a basemap from an f22b1, the stock ECU was an F22B1, ran perfectly on that. the next thing to do is put the stock MAP back on, stock narrowband, and disconnect the turbo and see if the car runs just fine.
Update! Seems the distributor went bad, replaced and now everything is fine and back to stock, put the RDX injectors back in, runs fine, under boost it just breaks up and had a weird misfire happening between idle and 4k rpm, then boost kicks in and it gets even worse. Been adjusting the fuel injector settings all day, no luck, starting think it's a bunk P28 and I just need to find a new ECU and S300. Snake EMU is junk, ruined this ecu.
See I was gana buy a Snake emu , then I hear it's ok
then ITS YOU OOOO Diiisss that the 3rd my tuner had tune put in car kinda barely ran then he keeps tuneing it and gets worst , Hmmmmmmm? But blame snake , tune , or motor ok no problems there
Diagnose: the problem please tell me what u used when u dowloaded to the stock map? after distributor changed ?
If u say Snake emu to download to basemap and ran fine couldn't been emu then anything ecu fails goes to- limp - I'd figure
Surprised u didn't use a chevy 3.5 map sensor
China's cheap with electronics
And there building products for motor and engins just need to focus on material they use and u'll be alright they are tricky lil people
