They can't get timing parts for a 2000 Civic Si? Should be the same bits.

No, the b16b engine is a JDM import from the ek9 Type R. It was a longshot as the engine/car was never sold in the USA but regardless i dont know where to buy a timing belt/wp for the engine

Even though it wasn't sold in the US, the B series still shares many components as their other B series counterparts.

B16B runs timing belt part #14400-P72-014, and water pump part #19200-P72-013. Both of which you could still currently buy off any Acura parts website.

So essentially they share the same VTEC water pump from a B16A2 (99-00 Civic Si), but uses the timing belt from a B18C5 (97-01 Integra Type-R).

Sorry for the reply to the reply,

I thought the engine code b18c1 is for an integra GSR not an ITR?

My mistake, yea B18C1 = GSR, C5 = Type-R.

How do they make the longer B18 belt work on the shorter decked B16?

B16B block shares the same as a GSR/Type-R, and not the B16A2, so naturally it's taller.

The B16B is essentially a "De-stroked" B18C5 ITR engine. The block casting is the same as the B18C1/5 block.

OP, in the US, with the exception of the B16B crankshaft, connecting rods, pistons and intake camshaft... you have a 2001 ITR (B18C5) engine. Check needed parts from an Acura Online Parts Seller... and then check the specific part number found through a Honda Online Parts Seller... and if it crosses over, you can buy the needed parts from your local Honda Parts Department. Otherwise, you get what you need from Acura.
