after alsmost 2 years, the car decided to take a dump..

Open the door, turn the key, all the lights come on in the dash like normal, then try to crank, the car makes a little scratching sound, - like .2 second sound and nothing after that.

Any suggestions?

i'm still able to use the keyless entry, like everything else comes on, could it be something else?

 

i bet it is the battery. all those little dash lights dont use much energy to work. try jumping it.

 

just got back.. it wouldn't make that noise anymore, just nothing at all.. so i tried to push/start it and it started rightaway.. its warming up as i'm writing this... hope its not the starter.

 

starter maybe dead?

 

so its possible to start the car without the starter?

 

o.k. i let the car wam run for 10-15 minutes, turned it off

turned the key, waited for fuel pump to stop making noise, then tried to crank it and nothing - no noise at all. will try to replace the battery tommorow..

hmm.. thats kinda good news... then it must be the battery.. will found out tommorow

 

push start...with ignition in on position, push the car a bit ( in neutral), while rollling, put it in gear, then pop the clutch.

Loose cable. Or dead battery.

Reid are you slipping, what about push starting? ( push -toss in gear- pop clutch-go)

 

He obviously knew about push starting since he mentioned he already used that method to start the car.

 

Oh my bad, time for the bed then...

 

battery or starter. I just replaced my starter last week. It's not that bad just $$$$.

 

I have the same problem, after 2 years I just tried to start it up one day and no go. I'm pretty sure its your battery.

update: jumped the car and turned out it was the battery, so got it replaced.

i think he meant place the key in on position, and as you rolling down the hill or somone pushes try to let the clutch in/out to start the car - as soon as you hear it turning push clutch pedal back in so it don't turn of - all should be done within second... you could do it both in 1st/reverse.

So... basically you roll the car, clutch in/out repeatly and the car will start on it's own?
