Default Air Tool advice??

I've been tooling with the idea of picking up some air tools lately just for simple installs around the house (suspnesion, changing wheels/tires, exhaust, just little things). I found this one at sears, comes with an impact wrench, air ratchet, hose, etc, for like $330, is it a good deal?

It's what I got, and it works awesome. Used it on my exhaust install w/o a problem

Doesn't look like a bad deal at all... be sure to pickup a tire filling nozzle w/ psi gague and a "sprayer" nozzle too! And impact sockets...

I figure i could make my money back without too much trouble charging ricers 100 bucks to install suspensions and such.. I think i'm gonna go ahead and do it. how much should the impact sockets run? will i need seperate sockets for the ratchet too? or should they be interchangable?

oh, one more question, with the impact wrench and the ratchet, i should be able to adjust how hard it turns so i can tighten things down without over tightening them right, then just torque by hand?

Are the ratchets and such adjustable as to how much torque they put out (not looking for ft/lbs so much, but just as long as they have a soft mode, as well as a hard mode)? how hard is it to exhaust the full tank of air requiring it to turn the compressor back on?

one thing though, if you charge $$$$ to do suspension work, you *might* put yourself in a position to be liable to damages/injuries/etc.

Heh, guess i'll make out some kind of liability waiver thing, although i doubt it'd hold up

Yeah they are adjustable for speed wise, but torque will have to be by hand of course!

looks good.......but those oil-less direct drive air compressors are so freaking loud you will have a headache after hearing it come on and off a couple times....

try to find one that is belt driven........thats what i have and it's not nearly as loud as my freinds direct drive compressor.......

The compressor is good if you arent using it too much. Its slow to refill. Something like a cut-off tool will drain it fast. Also buy Ingersol Rand air tools as opposed to Crapsman. I used to work for Sears Autocenter, we got craftsman for half price and most of us still bought elsewhere.

Yea they are kinda loud, but who cares?

xjohnx-I'm sure the impact driver has torque settings, just put it on low for tightening so you can torque by hand, and high for removing those pita fasteners.

Impact sockets are a good idea for breaking really tough stufff loose... I've broken a couple normal sockets with my cheapo gun... especially the deep set sockets... I think you can get a metric set for maybe $30.

that coiled up yellow hose is cheap and useless. trust me. that's the first thing you'll replace after some usage. get a heavy duty extra long hose.. i got one from sears that rolls up in it's own storage reel. it really helps when you want to pull it all the way out to the driveway/alley to fill up tires.. or other odd jobs outside of the garage.
