93 honda civic hatch d16y8 plug a d15b jdm non vtec?
I have a 93 honda civic hatchback I was given the car, was told it has a Frankenstein motor in it. D16y8 bottom top is a d16z6 I think. When I get off work I will look. My question is what am I gonna have to do to get this Jdm motor to work. I picked up a d15b jdm and thought it would plug and play but that is not working out. Please any help or pointers would be greatly appreciated. I was looking into making a mini me out of the JDM D15b. Any insights

First off you need to indicate what parts are not working out. Being a franken setup leaves everyone in the dark about what is not mating correctly. Which plugs, what mounts, tranny not working out right? There are so many different little things that could be causing you grief and you are expecting us to just know?

What do I need to change out on the d15b to get it working? I had a d16y8 block and d16z6 top in the car before. The d15b wiring harness was cut when I got it. I was going to use the old harness. I was going to plug in the sensors from d16 onto the d15 will that work? The distributor has a different plug and from what I read it needs to be changed out. I have been ready up on this d15b jdm and I need to change around before it will run. I have not came up on a thread with a D15b non vtec. Should be close to the vtec besides?

Wire Harness Cut....... The Z6 head distributor won't be the right one for the non vtec motor. You will want to go back to all original stock wire harness for the D15B non vtec. It's the closest thing to the stock motor for that car (assuming USDM DX) from JDM.
The D15B motor you bought, did it come with fuel rai;, injectors, distributor etc? Or is it just the head and block?
As for ECU, you should look for a P06 ecu. It's the closest OBD1 ecu for the non vtec d15b motor in North America. What ECU is in the car? Was the car a CX,DX or Si?
If your car was an Si stock, then the stock harness is fine and you will just need to change out the distributor for the non v-tec motor. Everything should be plug and play,

What was in the hatch before was D16y8 with a top D16z6 . Ecu and wired from previous owner. Not sure what ecu or obd it is.running.
The D15b I bought had fuel rail, distributor, etc.i swap the intake manifold, alternator. I got to the distributor but the bolt pattern is not the same. The wire harness is cut on the D15b. I was planning to use old harness from D16y8.All the(most) plugs on the D15b do not match so I changed out what didnt match.
Car I have now is 93 civic hatch eg.
Car the D15b I do not know.
How do.i tell what ecu I have ? Markings.
Pull back the carpet on the passenger side and you will see the ECU. On the side is the sticker and the middle letter number combo is the ecu designation. P06 or P28 is what should be there depending.
The Z6 top is same era so still OBD1. The plugs would all mate up fine.
You still skipped an important detail of your 93 hatch, What is the trim level, CX, DX, Si.
I'm going to guess it is an Si from factory and they replaced the block with a lesser grade Y8 block. I say lesser as the Z6 has dual oil ports per journal while the Y8 is single and known to spin bearings because of it.
Is the D15B a vtec motor? If it is, it's likely an OBD2 and so you will only want the head and the block. I suspect since the dizzy isn't matching it's a non vtec D15B.
