I have a long time friend that has put his trust completely in me to help him with his build.he has never built a Honda before and he has gave me the freedom to make the most of the money he has to invest. We found a blown up 96 civic Hatch two weeks ago and also found a great condition LSV motor the day before. The car is staying at my shop like it’s my 2nd build I’m on it hard already. I’ve already got the new motor in the car and running and my old turbo kit installed on it and making boost with a Hondata S300. I’ll make a list of everything we are doing on this high power budget build!
Why is it for years when looking for any decent non **** box hatch none are to be had,and Midori at that, but when someone wants to throw something together they're everywhere... In for this also..
Finally making some progress on this LSV..... I just got the block back from the machine shop and will start the assembly today! First two photos are from before the machine shop and right after I did the epoxy into the block. Manley H beam rods and CP piston going in today
waiting on the oil pump and rear main seal to come in and we will be ready to finish this motor up and get it installed. We are going to run the same color valve covers on both builds with different offsetting colors. Kinda a team thing.

the epoxy serves as a CSS for the motor, proven way of supporting the sleeves and cars doing 800jo or more this way . It’s a 3/4 inch thick ring of epoxy made by Chris Boyette of Chris’s Epic Tuning
After a pretty good set back due to something with the b18b1 block, luckily I had a spare B18c1 GSR block laying around and I’ve redone a new epoxy setup and had the new block machined and it’s fully assembled . Just waiting on the head to get back from the machine shop and this build will be ready to start tuning
‘it was over cut, it was a mistake that happened during the machine work. Thankfully we was able to work things out . We could run a thinker gasket on the other block, but thicker gaskets are special make only right now and could take months to get one
should have the head back in the next few days and I’ll have this 2nd build back together. We are trying to finish it up and tuned and ready for street car takeover in 3 weeks
Got the fuel lins all made up and the catch can lines are all done as well. Waiting on a few small items to come in and it should be ready to have a first start up!
Off to the dyno this weekend with this build! I’ve been street tuning this B18c1 with a B18b1 crankshaft rods and pistons over this week and I’m very Impressed with the power so far.
My first tuning session went pretty good….. I was only able to do 3rd gear pulls due to noise issues with the dyno. I pushed it until I started spinning on the dyno and ended up at 510whp before it started spinning and 330 torque. I definitely think the overall number was closer to 550-570 if I could have made the pull in 4th gear . Plenty of power to get going with!
That’s a good starting point. That’s around the HP I’m trying to get.
What type/size of turbo are you using if you don’t mind me asking? It looks large.
