Default By pass knock sensor

I have a 98 ex which came with the y8 but my block cracked after it over heated and blew the head gasket I recovered the heads which were fine but I came across a y7 block and since it was non vtec it would let me drive over 4-5k rpm when the vtec supposed engage so the car would just big out so long story short I have a y7 block with a y8 head and it runs and idles good until it gets to temp it has no power from the launch (1k-2.5k rpm) I have no power but then I will at 3k but regardless if this made sense I came to find out that the y7 doesn’t have the knock sensor like my y8 did so when I use my code reader it reads the knock sEnsor can i get some opinions or help I would appreciate it

Y7 blocks have a threaded hole for a knock sensor. Buy one, screw it in, and plug in the connector.

i dont think the knock sensor is your issue

with obd1 P30 on a B16a I have had knock sensor CEL, and the car still runs fine, maybe obd2 is different, i don't know

Did you double check mechanical timing ? ignition timing ? adjust valves

Its on the back of the block below the intake manifold. Find the oil pressure sender then look up and toward the left and you’ll see it
just above the water pipe below the #2 runner on the IM

dude i put the block in my self and that’s the first thing I noticed that where the y8 has that exactly where your saying it’s located the y7 isn’t really the same beside it not having vtec it Doesn’t have the knock sensor right there I will post a picture ASAP if you don’t believe me but I’m a diesel mechanic so my cars don’t get that much time unfortunately :/
