Im looking for the exhaust gasket for the down pipe or A pipe where it meets the headwrs. Autozone tried to sell me a 4 bolt thing but mine is 3. Here is a pic from the net that shows the pipe i have...but the flange above does seem to have extra holes in it...odd...mine is leaking here and when i finally looked, the washers on the bolts are jingling and loose. Ive been spraying the bolts with penetrating oil for a week or so and trying to work up the coursge to not snap them off. I do not see any nuts on top of the flange from the header?! I am assuming the gasket is long gone. Thank you for any help! I attachd the 96-2000 pic as it does show gaskets but they dont say what the part number is . This is a 1.5 liter hatchback d15b7 I believe

Reason: Add info
The manifold has threaded holes in it with studs - there are no nuts on the back side. If you have bolts and washers when looking up from the bottom side, someone has pulled the studs out and replaced them with bolts.
Do you mean studds are facing down to catch the a pipe? Could these be the studs and somebody added washers cuz they always use washers with nuts? Something is jingling amd loose underneath looking from the top and i assumed it was washers (*** out ofu and me time?). Maybe they are justthe nuts? Loose as all hell. Gasket must be loooong gone then...
Yes, studs are facing down from the bottom of the upper part of the manifold. They go through the 3 holes on the A-pipe. There is supposed to be a nut with no washer on the bottom to hold the two pieces together.
That makes sense now. I thought the nut was missing from the top for some reason. Ill have to get in there tomorrow and see what kind of craziness is going on up there. Do you think the old gasket is still embedded in one half of the joint? They are not together by a small amount right now. It might help in matching it to get a replacement if it is
But i should use a new one, right? Or just try to tighten and see what happens? I found a felpro one that may work? 60787, some sites are selling it as a replacement. Good idea? And i will need to clena th threads and new nuts at the veryleast, if they dont snap the studs...😮
Tony is right - the one you get from a parts store is like a crushable metal ring with a round cross section. The OEM one is like a fiber-metal ring with a rectangular cross section. Personally I'd just try tightening it back up with the existing gasket. You can try running a die down the threads on the studs if they don't break. Be sure to put anti-seize on the threads to give you a better chance of getting the nuts off successfully if you have to remove them in the future.
What size die? I will need nuts too. I was at the junkyard today and the studs seemed much bigger on the one eg civic they had in the lot. They looked like 12mm maybe. I cant see what my rusty friends look like for some reason, maybe the washers
i should probably try to clean the threads below the nuts, eh? Is that what you means about the die, or for after i (if) get them off?
parts store was out of that gasket so maybe i will see if i can crank it down. But shoukd i take them off first and clean the threads?? Or maybe the upper threads are way better than the lower threads as they were covered and protested for a while by the nut!?
