Default 93 civic won’t turn over but when push start it starts right up

I have a 5spd civic last night I had to push start it to get home. It runs just won’t start. So far I replaced the starter I even had to take it back to autozone to test it and they said it was good I checked the starter fuse in the inside of the car and it’s good last thing I looked at was the clutch pedal and it’s missing a rubber thingy but I still don’t see why it won’t start it’s my only car I have any help is apprec

Where the rubber thingy is missing

The switch that you are referring to with the related "missing" rubber pad is for CRUISE CONTROL... not your starter circuit. The gold colored switch above the previously mentioned switch with the yellow paint on the jam nut is actually the clutch start switch. To test the switch, place the shifter in neutral, reach over the top of the switch and depress the switch plunger, and simultaneously rotate the ignition key to the "start" position. If the car starts, you are missing the clutch switch pedal pad and a replacement will be necessary to properly fix your issue. Do you see any dark blue plastic pie shaped pieces on the carpet on the floor ? This would be another good indication that you have a broken clutch switch pad.

yes I see the broken pieces on the floor. Ok so that’s just my cruise control, got it

***update I see what you mean now there’s two switches and I’m missing both pads I looked and I think autozone sells them for like 7 bucks

Put a new pad in the top hole and you will be able to start the car normally just fine.

Yep that’s your problem why the car won’t turn over. I’ve had that happened to me a couple times.

it’s a pain in the *** to get that little rubber **** in the hole too. I had to use double sided tape on a long screwdriver with the rubber piece on top of the tape and steady it between the hole on the pedal and switch then have the other hand press on the clutch switch to wedge it in the hole. Little stuff like that can be a big pain hah

i just replaced the pad just that when I remove the master cylinder don’t know if you have to readjust it correctly it feels different when I push down on the pedal now or should I not worry about it

I found it was much easier to just remove the entire pedal assembly and then replace the pads with the pedal in a bench vise. In my opinion, way easier than trying to finagle the pads in place under the dash. I believe Amazon has them for super cheap.

Adjust the clutch pedal height exactly as shown in diagram.
