Default B20 in 93' DX

Hey all. I was wondering if about the Skunk2 Intake Manifold gains on a set up like mine? I have a 1993 Civic DX 2 Door, removed AC, B20b Engine, GSR Tranny, LS ECU, LS Intake Manifold, LS Throttle Body, LS Cams, 4-1 Stainless JUN header and a filter. The car pulls VERY good and its practicaly stock (header and filter). I have the Stock DX cat and exhuast on it and this engine needs to breath more. should i go for 2.25 or 2.50? also. has anyone put a Skunk2 Intake Manifold on this kinda set up or maybe a B18? Is it enough gains to feel it on the Butt Dyno. and also was a LSD (TypeR or SIR) be a good choice for me. or are they both pretty much the same. thanks for you time (and yes i know i asked a lot of questions but I'll never know unless i ask the people that already have it or have done it )

See what asking 41 questions in one post gets you....

I don't usually do this but........S.E.A.R.C.H.

No one will help you if you don't put in a bit of effort yourself

I'll try to give ya some help...

From what I've read the Skunk2 really helps the B20 in the mid-range and top-end. I remember someone saying that the power doesn't 'die off' after 6000 RPM anymore like with the LS manifold.

I'll have a similar setup to yours...mine is:

'99 B20Z
'98 JDM Type R tranny
Type R flywheel/clutch
LS intake manifold
AEM Type R CAI
B16 exhaust manifold
stock exhaust

I plan on going with a full 2.5" exhaust -> JDM DC 4-1, 2.5" in/out carsound cat, custom 2.5" piping with 2.5" Magnaflow resonator and oval muffler. A full exhaust with the skunk2 should net you over 140 whp. (If you have a JDM B20B or USDM B20Z)

And an LSD is a good choice for any car! You should be able to find used Type R ones for 300-400 bucks...

Good luck and let me know how things turn out...when I get my setup in the car, I'll let you all know my opinions.

BTW: You might also want to consider an adjustable fuel pressure regulator. Some B20s tend to run lean with the LS ecu...

hum i'll also give it a shot.

with your current setup and slicks you should be able to get a 14.8 - 15.2
i had a frend run a simalar set up and he ran 15 flat.

the skunk2 IM should help you out about 6-8hp in the top end. your motor should feel like it's breathing better above 5500rpms. However you do seriousely need a FPR to add more fuel in the higher rpm range(get a AFC)

almost any full catback exhust will give you more hp & help cut your time down.

thanks for the replays!. Yeah my car needs an exhuast pretty bad. that stock DX cat and exhuast has to go. i was goign to save up and some time in january get my LSD, Flywheel and clutch and Intake Manifold. until i get more money I'll get a cheaper fpr but later get a AFC. Ive seen some typeR LSDs go for 200-300 also. maybe i'll get lucky and get a good deal on mine. I'll let you all know how it runs though, Im takeing it to the track friday to see how it runs like it is now. I'm hoping for high 14's low 15's. wish me luck and I'll post pack my times

yeah i just go by my the LX gauge cluster tach when shifting. and that is like 6,300-6,500. it has all the power i need down low so going high is a waist of gas. heh.. yeah i got a cold air intake for it but they sent the wrong one. it was for a non turbo eclipse (if anyone wants it i'll sell it to you for like $60 if you have a eclipse) its chrome.

if you are going to put an LSD in you should go with Quaife America LSD they are a little more $ than an Type-r or sir but they have a life time warranty. I have one in my car and 3 of my friends have them as well, they are the firts mod i would do to any car after driving with and without one.

Hey everyone. I didnt get to G-tech my car but i did take it to the track tonight. Here is my best run. My worst run was a 15.127 @91.01 with a 2.394 60ft time. Are these decent times or around average? The car coudl use a exhaust. I'm thinkin about getting a high flow cat and 2.5 cat back. Well here is my best time below (i ran 4 times, 15.1, 15.0, 15.0, 14.9)
r/t - .576
60' - 2.182
330 - 6.215
1/8 - 9.558
mph - 72.92
1000 - 12.473
1/4 - 14.944
mph - 91.14

1993 Honda Civic DX Coupe
no A/C
B20b
GSR Tranny
LS ECU
LS Throttle Body
LS Intake Manifold
LS Cams
Warm Air Intake
4-1 Header
DX Stock Cat (130,000 miles)
DX Stock Exhaust (SMALL)

Those are pretty good times. That stock exhaust is killing you though! And you should really look into getting an intake system instead of the cone right at the throttle body.

We put the LS cams in it thinking they were a little different and then found out after that, they were the same. Oh well lol. When i was launching the car would spin for a little bit and then catch and wheel hop like a Bizotch before it would go. I had a tape in the sterio (stock dx tape player ) lol and it flew out and landed in my back seat... I only got 4 runs in, I feel like it would have been able to hit maybe a 14.8 if i got more runs in. Oh well I'll see how well it runs when the track reopens Thanks for the replys

er... maybe that was my downfall.. i tried lauching it at like between 2,300-4,000 .. I would spin an dthen wheel hop bad. I would have tried going from idle but i only got 4 runs in and i was there 5pm-11pm... err... Engine was cold too. hmm that reminds me. When your engine is cold when u first start it up. what does it idle at? Mine idles at 2,500rpms until it warms up an dthen its at like 850-1000 rpms...
