Default Obd1 B16a swap, primary o2 sensor not working

I swapped a b16a into my 97 ex civic manual. The only engine code I have is code 41. I know it’s to do with the o2 sensor. I do have a new o2 sensor, a 4 to 1 header, and a different wire harness from a 96 ex auto civic due to my original being hacked. The code still shows tho, but I looked at the wire harness plug and saw that the white wire was electrical taped so I undid that and saw the white wire was inside of a grey wire with extra wire sticking out. Im pretty sure this shouldn’t be like this. Can someone, help me with this?

The white wire seems to be connected to a bigger grey wire, i not sure if this is normal ?

It is normal. Some wires are braided to shield the signal going to the ECM/PCM from interference from noise created by other systems such as an ignition system.

tech8 is correct - this is a shielded wire. You can verify with a meter that the shielding is grounded to the chassis. Only one end of the shielding should be grounded. All looks normal in your pictures.
