Project Del slo - Kswap and AWD conversion - budget build
Hey,
been sourcing parts for about a year, and finally took the plunge Saturday on starting this build.
I have two donor vehicles:
a 5 speed crv
and an rsx type s 6 speed with a supercharged built frank engine - hondata tuned
i was planning on staying with the 4 lug setup and converting to rear disk when I add my s1 built aluminum trailing arms, maybe GSR brakes. I have Hasport egK2 mounts (non awd transmission)
ive done enough reading and planning to get this far, but I need to some help digging in on the finer details.
i pulled the engine/ transmission/ axels out of the rsx on Saturday.
And need to make sure of anything else I will need before I sell off the roller.
questions:
1) rsx had 1320 performance headers.
Will these work with my delsol/eg chassis and still allow room for the driveshaft? If not, what ones (brand/chassis) are working for others on eg chassis?
2). Im not certain on just Kswap using the 6 speed FWD setup for now and work out the bugs and then pull out later/ convert to awd. Or if I should just go right for using 5 speed from the crv now....
2.a. How long would it be ok to drive that way in “FWD mode” with it not connected to a rear end? Wasn’t planning on the rear end to awd until later.
2.b. will the rsx clutch interchange with crv transmission?
2.c. is it worth adding a 6th gear to the crv transmission?
2.d. whats the best awd transmission mount these days? I heard of some having issues a while ago.
3). Rsx cables and shifter VS crv cables and shifter to use in the delsol?
4) rsx axels were really beefy 👍. Will these work with my 4lug hubs? If not do the crv ones work? (Engine setup about 300 hp for now).
And if theres is any other obvious to you guys stuff I should consider taking off the rsx that will be useful before I sell please let me know.
Thanks, and try not to hate if you think my questions are stupid....
