What to Check on a 2007 CR-V Before a Cross-Country Road Trip
Hi there,
Would really appreciate everyone's Honda expertise. I'm thinking of taking a 2007 CR-V (4WD, 180,000 miles) on a cross-country road trip to move back to the East Coast. I'm going to get the car serviced beforehand, and it's been decently well maintained, but I wanted to ask: What things should I ask the dealership mechanics to double-check before the trip to decrease the chances of it breaking down in the middle of nowhere on me? Maybe cylinder compression, but what else? My car knowledge is sadly lacking, so I'm trying to learn and be prepared before this trip.
Thanks a bunch!

Make sure you have proper air pressure not just in your 4 primary tires but also your spare. Make sure the jack works and the wrench fits your lug nuts. Do you know of any little gremlins your car has, such as chattering wiper blades or squeaks when going over speed bumps? Print out a list of things that Honda has recalled or put a bulletin out on for your vehicle and make sure they've been addressed.
Replace serpentine belt, keep old one in sparewell.
Check all fluids, check dates on tires, repalce if older than 7yrs (old tires like to blow out on long road trips) Air up your spare tire (they deflate overtime.
If summer verify that AC has full charge.
As previously mentioned check wiper blades, wahs all windows inside and out. Dirty windows make your eyes more tired.
