Default Can't split s40-k4f

Me and my friends have been trying to split this tranny for hours. The steps we've taken so far:
Interlock guide bolt removed
detentes removed
all of the 12mm bolts removed (goes without saying)
VCC removed
Reverse switch removed
I've split a transmission before, by myself. It came apart just fine (same k4f as well).

When we pry up on the upper case while pulling apart the snap ring, the counter-shaft comes up with it. I've tried heating it up, lightly tapping it to no avail. I even tried taking a punch and hammer to the main countershaft bearing through the fill port (not too worried, I have another bearing).the counter-shaft still comes up with the upper case.

This happens from time to time. No secrets for getting the CS to drop out of the case, just have to keep at it.

Here is a picture of my honda oem isb. I'm finding some conflicting info on the orientation of this bearing.

I've been told that the words go up. But in other guides the side with the 2 concentric circles goes up. Need some clarification.
