Automatic transmission...
hey all. well its about that time to change the tranny oil from my 01 accord, but i have never worked on a auto tranny before. i have tried the search, but nothing really came up to help. how is it different then my manual tranny?? where is the drain and refill bolt. thanks all!!! oh and what are the tq specs. i dont have my helms yet for the accord. thanks again!!
you easily spot the tranny drain bolt when you are under the car, on your accord it might actually be labled "TRANS" or something to that sort. Fill through the dipstick hole.

should note the drain plug will be a 3/8 square female bolt. Just use a 3/8 drive extension to loosen it. 38ft/lbs is what the helms manual tells me to tighten it to.
dont listen to any of them, they are all wrong. lol. just because they have 3000 posts doesnt mean they know everything. oh wait, it does. crap

When I changed mine, there was gunk all over the magnetic drain plug, so I cleaned it off changed the fluid, drove it 2 days, and then changed it again and cleaned off more of that gunk on the drain plug.
OK I know this is going to sound crazy but I change my mom's tranny oil for her and I do it every other oil change. Why? Becuase when you "change" the fluid you are only changing a small amount of the whole. The total is I think around 7 quarts or so and you only drain out about 3. Hence why I think it should be changed more often, plus why let that old burnt smelling fluid keep flowing around? Cheaper to change the fluid than to rebulid the tranny. And I think we all know that Honda Transmissions are a bit on the touchy side.
As for a filler bolt, the 98 V-6 has a filler bolt on top of the tranny, it's towards the driver side of the car towards the back of the tranny, it had a red mark across it. Guess that was from the factory.

this moron cant find the tranny oil filter.how big is it? same as a motor oil filter??

Transmission filter is an integral part of the transmission and is considered a "life of the vehicle" item. If you want to change it you will have to crack open the tranny and find it.
Well at least that's how it is on a V-6.
