Quick rundown on my car. It’s a Canadian 95 Honda Civic dx originally an auto. I bought it as a manual conversion, with an engine swap. It’s got a d16y7. The way they had done the swap, is keeping the auto ecu and all dash harnesses, and connecting some wires that used to go to the auto shifter.
Ive replaced all the wiring harnesses in the dash/cabin of the car from a manual trans car, and converted my auto ecu to manual by removing 2 resistors and putting a jumper in.
now, the car doesn’t start, although I have not completed putting everything back, but I don’t understand why it won’t start
I haven't read through the auto to manual swap DIY threads.
Do they mention swapping the dash harness? Or just moving pins around.
If moving pins around, you will need to see if any pins had to be moved for the engine harness side that will need to be reverted to use the manual dashharness.
Also what year car did you get the manual dashharness from and is it the same model/trim car? You haven't mentioned if you are working on a 2, 3 or 4 door.
Nadda, you just connect two big black wires to get the car started. It does go into detail on how to get cruise control working and how to get something similar to how an oem non converted 5spd starts a car, aka press in the clutch pedal.
Right. It’s a 95 dx hatchback, that the last owner did both a manual swap and a engine swap, to a d16y7. I initially started with just a gauge cluster harness, but even less worked on the gauge than initially, so I decided to swap the entire car to manual, that way it’s as if it’s a factory manual car. (For ease of future mods.) the dash harness used was out of a 92-95 eg coupe, I can get the exact year and model and post that up as well. Everything was plug and play, supposedly, but the new dash harness has plugs for things like power windows and mirrors that my car does not come with, although I assume that doesn’t affect driveability. I don’t know what engine harness they used for the swap, if it is the stock D15b7 but chopped up, or a d16y7 swapped in. I do know that the ecu is a p06-A52, and they kept the ecu auto(not converted) and tricked the ecu by joining 2 cables that used to connect to the auto trans. I took the pedal box, dash harness, headlight harness from the donor car. I did a manual ecu conversion by removing rb17 and rb18, and jumping rb18. Car still won’t start.
the fuel pump doesn’t prime, and the starter does not click or attempt to turn the motor over at all. As far as I can tell, the starter signal is stopping before it is distributed to those locations. I didn’t look into the manual swap threads much (probably should have) because my car was both manual swapped and engine swapped, and the wiring is a bit of a Frankenstein
Found the issue! When I removed the harness from the donor car, I had left the starter cut relay attached to the donor and just unplugged it. When I installed the harness, I assumed it was another connection for a feature I didn’t have (I have manual windows, mirrors, etc. and the new harness has power everything) so I paid it no mind. A friend came over to help and called out my stupidity! We got it fixed. Thank you all!
Can someone help me? Im kind of in the same boat. I bought a 92 civic Lx and previous owner did the auto to manual swap. Car runs fine no issue but I cant get the car to crank over with the key. I bought a new battery and starter for it and yes, the starter is working. All grounds are good Main relay good. I can jump the starter and car will fire up. I looked under the dash and seen this plug. Any ideas on what it belongs to? If I disconnect and reconnect the looped relay it will crank. But if I shut it off I will have to mess with it again for it to crank? Still has original auto harness
