Icon4 2000 civic radiator fan

my radiator fan is refusing to turn on. i just replaced the radiator and noticed it doesnt turn on. this is a newly bought car by the way. i replaced the thermostat and the thermosensor, but it doent turn on. i read that you use a special funnel to get air out of the system. didnt work. when i stick a paper clip in the harness, it will turn on just fine. any ideas? looking to do this without taking it to a shop. thanks !

Check fuses and check the relay. You can verify both of those by pulling the thermostat fan switch plug and jumping it. If the fan comes on then the circuit is good. If it didn't you'll need to verify 12v at the end of the circuit.

Try to bleed the radiator properly.

With the engine cold Jack the front of the car as high as possible and remove the radiator cap
Start the engine and set the climate control to high heat and full blast
use a funnel and insert it in the radiator and watch for air bubbles to escape and top off coolant if the level drops as it warms up
Both radiator hoses should be hot to the touch and the thermostat should open by then, you can aid the burping by squeezing the lower hose slightly to help push more air bubbles out.
Once the engine has warmed up to OP temp the heat in the cabin should be nice and hot and no air bubbles should be present in the radiator and the fans should turn on and cycle at least twice, then it should be bled and you can put the radiator cap back on and test drive.

Time to initiate testing that looks for a blown head gasket.
