I bought an 01 Civic from a friend of mine. 5 speed. He told me when I asked him that there were a few issues but not much. He said that the lower control arm on the passenger side needed to be replaced, struts all around, window regulator for the driver side, driver side door panel, breaks, and tires. Add to that a new fuel pump, CV axle, valve cover gaskets, spark plugs, radio, and various other caps under the hood, my car is STILL not running right. Most recently I overheated due to lack of oil I was told. So my dumb *** added more oil. I put in ENTIRELY too much. Before that my car wasn't running as it should. Sometimes it would run just fine, no hesitation, no rough idle, take off was speedy and efficient as well as accelerating to get in hwy. Other times it was sluggish and sputters and acts like it wants to stall out. I hit the clutch pump the gas a couple times and we're back to good I've been told it could be sealed filter fuel injectors or coil packs. I was told that there is no fuel filter in and 01 civic, is this true? Any helpful Tricks or information for me? I don't have the money to take My baby to a real live mechanic, and I really don't want to sell.
