Default Check Fuel Cap

Hello, I've been having in issue with my recently purchased 2012 Honda Accord SE. For the past couple of months I've been getting the "Check Fuel Cap" message, I tried changing the fuel cap with a OEM cap and I still get the message. I took it to pepboys where they suggested a smoke test. They found no leaks and suggested I take it to the Honda dealership because it might be a "system glitch" any idea on what this might mean? Also, I should mention that my check engine light NEVER came on.

After every fuel fill-up. just tightened the fuel cap at least 3 clicks. If you tighten it at least 3 clicks, you should not have the issue anymore; unless the gasket was bad.

The 3-clicks (at least) is part of published Honda info. to techs/advisers.

I thought it was pretty obvious but yes I do tighten the fuel cap enough. I even changed the gas cap itself.

Do you turn it til you hear at least 3 clicks? That part is not an obvious procedure for most Honda owners.

The system must be detecting a large evap leak, for it to think the gas cap is loose.

This is not a solution you will find on the internet, your best bet is to Google or Yelp a competent repair shop in your area

(Pepboys is the Walmart of the repair industry. It is a running joke and should be avoided.....)
