I recently bought a 95 civic ex for next to nothing and I want to get it to run as best as I can but I’ve run into many problems (naturally). First off the car does not want to rev past 3.5k and the idle is around 2k rpm. I’ve adjusted the throttle body and cable but nothing seems to better the idle. Also when I try to get codes from the ecu, the CEL stays solid and the SRS flashes continuously. I have a suspicion that the ecu is bad because I think it’s been tampered with. Also the car came with aftermarket headers and I have yet to find a hole for an o2 sensor and as a matter of fact I can’t find the connector for a o2 sensor anywhere on my wiring harness. The car is a 5 speed with a manual transmission. I am completely lost and don’t know where to begin with this project because I at least want it to pass smog here in California.

Can you provide more details about the ECU?

Does the car still have the stock D16Z6 engine? This engine is run by a P28 ECU.

Have you checked whether the engine mechanical timing is off by one tooth on the timing belt?

The SRS light is blinking airbag codes.

 

Yes, the car has the original D16z6 and p28 ecu. The srs is just nonstop blinking And it isn’t any codes. I haven’t checked timing but I will do that today and get back to this thread.

 

It's how all trouble codes blink. You just need to know how to read them.
