Default Water Pump fail. Honda Civic 2000

4 months ago I replaced the water pump (along with many other things) on my 2000 Honda Civic. The job went fine. Yet, 3 months later I notice that the pump is leaking again. I assumed the pump was junk and went and replaced it again. Didn’t fix the leak. I then figured I just didn’t seal it right. Replaced the o-ring and sealed it again. Still leaked. The. I got put gasket sealer and thread sealer everywhere I could think of. Still leaks. I’m past my own abilities at this point. Any help is appreciated. Surface was meticulously cleaned before hand. Bolts were tightened to spec. Coolant seems to be coming clearly out of the water pump or is somehow accumulating at the pump at the bottom right bolt. Thanks in advance for any help!

I should have stated that. First one was “SCITOO” (cheap off a timing belt kit on amazon). The second was “Direct Import” from Oreillys (the best one they had).

Use a better water pump kit
torque bolts to spec, don't over tighten!!!

If you MUST use gasket maker sealant, allow it to cure completely before filling the block with coolant.

The service manual instructions do not include the use of gasket sealant, and I have installed these water pumps without using it and had zero leakage problems. The water pump rubber gasket is sufficient as as long as the mating surfaces are clean and undamaged.

Is there any thing you guys could think of that would cause this other than a seal fail or water pump failure??? I’ve tightened them to speak (9 lbs I believe). I’ve only used the o-ring. I’ve then progressed to using bolt sealant on the bolts (per manual). Finally, I used gasket sealant as a last resort. I’ve tightened to spec, I’ve then over tightened. I’ve done everything I could think of to do any adjustment to help. I’ve literally made 5 or more adaptations getting a new o-ring every time.

Garbage pumps leaking internally. Go get a Honda pump and be done with it.

How did you verify that it was leaking from the pump and not the water log?

i'd stay away from most kits (especially gates). gates pumps are not recommended here:

https://honda-tech.com/forums/honda-...civic-3114911/

had a gates start leaking after just 50k, never again. now made in china.running npw now seems ok.
these all japanese parts tbk kits are assembled with loving care so that's an exception:

Amazon Amazon

I don’t know what the “water log” is. Can you inform me? Everything else was dry and I watched it drip from the bottom right bolt of the pump.

I believe he is talking about the water pipe that attaches from behind the water pump to the thermostat housing. The O ring could be leaking..
