Default Calling TheShodan and other Turbo drain line experts! Pictures inside

***Advice/Suggestions needed*** Turbo Experts

I have been having on going issues with oil leaking out of the compressor housing on my Turbocharged ITR - I recently replaced the turbo and I’m still having the same issues - My feed line / Restrictor are correct.

I have narrowed it down to this drain line - What’s everyone’s opinions? The housing is vertical but as it drops down it flattens out before it gets to the pan. With this manifold configuration/ Plus keeping AC This is honestly about as good as i can get it -

Any suggestions would be great!

1. How much oil is coming out the compressor? Dripping or just some smear

2. what brand turbo

3. What boost level are you running.

4. What weight oil?

5. Boost before the car gets warm can cause it since the oil pressure is extra high

Your drain looks ok to me , i occasionally will get a little oil smear in mine also, but I’m running pretty high boost and high oil pressure

Rev9 - TX57- Brand new.

11Psi

5W30 ( but it also leaked with rotella 10w40 ) 98 Spec ITR Engine

the drain line lays completely flat on the charge pipe before it drops down to the pan - I always thought that was a big no no.

Due to it being a AC Kit I’m thinking if I welded a -10 bung closer to the bell housing side ( left side of pan ) it would allow a straight slope down - Unless using the left side of the pan would cause a issue VS the standard spot Above the drain plug like mine is now. I bought the pan from a buddy already tapped and basically just tried to make it work - He was running a Full-Race Ramhorn

That placement is rough given the downpipe in the way like that. I dont have good advice. Maybe clock the turbo more towards front so you can get rid of the flat spot.

What about just re welding a new bung closer on the opposite side of the pan so I could get a straight slope - Also that would allow me to get the line away from the downpipe all together

Are you using a 180* an fitting?

you can try use a 180* fitting on the oil pan and Mayb cutting the hose a little shorter so you can get rid of the flat line.

or the best thing just like you said is to weld a bung closer to the turbo so it’ll have a straight drop.

Do this...
1. Remove the line from the oil pan fitting and extend it into a drain pan.
2. Start the car. If it doesn't leak any more, it's the fitting at the pan. If it still leaks, it's the fitting or hose at the turbo

as long as the drain is unrestricted and down slope it should be fine, I also use a REV9 turbo (larger). When I run it at or close to its full potential is when I see the oil smear in the housing. You at 11 psi should be around 80% of that turbo. Does the oil pour out or is it just residue?
